Arrangements for Guided Walks, Tours, Filming or Recording in Brookwood Cemetery
All visitors are reminded that Brookwood Cemetery is a privately owned and managed burial ground, and it is a courtesy to seek permission to explore the grounds. Over the years this has rarely happened, and with the increasing use of the grounds as a "free" resource, rather than a burial ground, the Company has introduced following procedures for all guided walks in the cemetery.
Guided walks or tours of the cemetery grounds (which is private property) will not be permitted unless agreed in writing by the Company in advance. All enquiries about proposed guided walks should be directed in the first instance to the Cemetery Office either by post, fax or email (contact details appear at the foot of this page).
We will need to know the date of the visit, the name of your organisation (with contact details), the anticipated number of visitors, whether you are making a charge for the walk, and how long you expect to be on site. You can print out a Word document here. The completed forms should then be returned to the Cemetery Office. Our written authorisation will be the joint signatures of Erkin Guney, Managing Director of Brookwood Cemetery, and John Clarke, Historical Advisor to the Company.
The Company reserves the right to charge a fee for such walks or tours. Any fees charged will be payable to the "Brookwood Cemetery Restoration Fund" and used for restoration work in the cemetery.
Similar restrictions apply to filming or recording in the cemetery. A fee will usually be charged for any filming or recording in the cemetery. Please see our Rules and Regulations for further details, or contact the Cemetery Office.
Potential visitors are reminded of the programme of monthly walks arranged through us with the Brookwood Cemetery Society, the "Friends" group for the cemetery. The Society's guided walks take place on the first Sunday each month and start at 2pm. Further details of the Society's forthcoming walks are posted here.
