Restoration Projects in Brookwood Cemetery
The Lake in the Glades of Remembrance
Our current restoration project is the Lake near the entrance to the Glades of Remembrance. We are raising money to allow the area to be made fully watertight, and thus restore not only the lake but also the pump that fed the waterfall feature nearby.
The initial stage of this work has been completed. The foundations have been made watertight, and the lake refilled with water, as these recent photos show. Further work is in progress to restore the waterfall features and to restore the bridge over the stream at the far end of the Glades.
The project has been undertaken by the Guney family in loving memory of the late Ramadan Guney. This was one of his projects that he was sadly unable to complete in his lifetime, but we are sure he is watching from above and would be pleased with the work we are doing in his name. May he rest in peace.
